"You’re using the term the Latent Miracle Power— Why miracle power?
What is the miracle?”
She smiled. “If I’m the professor, you’re my most interested student.
Latent Miracle Power is my own term, so let me explain how I came up
with it."
She paused for a moment, then went on, "As I said, if you trace back to
the source of many, even most, religions and spiritual traditions, you
find there’s a common theme, a recognition that there is something
beyond, and in part it’s awareness that at least some of us are capable
of tapping extraordinary human capabilities. In some cultures, it’s only
the shamans who seem to have these miracle powers, but they show
the way. In other traditions, it’s certain holy people or miracle workers
who exhibit special powers. But they illustrate what capabilities are
latent within us, or at least some of us.”
Larkwood: Agent Perceval apparently stumbled on what the Nazis had
been looking for all along: a power within the human mind, or at least
within certain trained minds, that can direct and focus energies from
other dimensions.
"As I said earlier, awareness of that Latent Miracle Power has been one
of the best-kept secrets over the centuries.”
Larkwood: Let us assume, for the sake of the argument, that it was
indeed the Twisted Messiah crowd who have been following his career.
What would that mean? That they also are pursuing what the Nazis
pursued: that power within the mind that can direct and focus energies
from other dimensions.
“What makes you think the Twisted Messiah leadership is even aware of
what you call the Latent Miracle Power?,” I asked, hoping she didn’t
have a plausible answer. “If they’re like most, they’re just out to rake in
money.”
“I wish that were all there is to it. But there are a lot of other small
signals, certain symbols they use, the whole thrust of the performances.
Granted, I’m much more attuned to these codes than most other people
simply because of the research I’m doing, but, trust me, they’re there.
And not by accident.”
“What is it you think they—the Twisted Messiah leadership—is
ultimately after?”
A rueful smile: “Isn’t it obvious? To learn to tap these powers from the
other dimensions.”
“I’m not sure what you mean by that—powers from other dimensions,” I
probed.
“Suppose, just suppose, that it was true about the Cathars and
Templars, that they had found a way of tapping so-called ‘unlimited
wealth.’ That wealth would be a war-chest, so to speak. They already
have a world-wide army in the mindless masses of kids who’re ready to
follow their Twisted Messiah. It’s my impression that these kids have
been brainwashed into believing that their lives are futile, that they have
nothing to contribute, nothing to accomplish, and hence nothing to lose
if they get into crime or drugs or whatever. In that sense, they’re a lot
like the Islamic martyrs of the middle-east, willing to die for the cause.”
She shook her head, then continued. “But there’s a difference, a crucial
difference. The Islamic terrorists at least have a cause, a belief system,
that motivates them. These kids have no cause, other than destruction
for its own sake. Worse, they’re among us, every race and nationality,
not just identifiable men with Middle-eastern features.”
